As of around July 2020, Bosch and BMW have updated their ECU hardware to further increase security against any methods of unlocking or tuning. Current universal methods for OBD and bench flashing have been entirely blocked on this new hardware revision. We are not aware of any companies who have successfully unlocked and flashed these ECUs (as of January 2021). ECUPROGRAM plans to tackle this global problem over the coming months. Soon we will add detection to differentiate the newest ECU hardware and inform users in app when they have connected to a blocked ECU.
